Guangdong Yingge troupe delivers CNY vibe to Paris, France

On February 2, 2025, the 3rd 'Happy Spring Festival in Paris: Lion Dance Celebration on Champs-Élysées' was held in the city of Paris, France.

A Yingge dance troupe from Guangdong, China, consisting of 25 members, delivered a captivating performance to over 200,000 local residents and tourists, on the special occasion of the Chinese New Year.
A young man told GDToday how the performance left an impression on him. "When the performers climbed poles several meters high, it was truly impressive. They must have trained extensively to ensure no room for error," he said. He was thrilled by the lion dance performance and Yingge dance, which he rarely got the chance to see at ordinary times.

Another spectator said the parade came all at once as a beautiful surprise for him and his friends. "I came with friends and didn't know about the event beforehand, but I'm glad they told me. It's Chinese New Year, and I was thrilled to join the celebration." He highly praised the Yingge dance, which kick-started the parade. "The dancers with sticks passing by was fantastic," he added. "The colorful costumes and their movements were particularly striking."

The Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) was recently inscribed on the UNESCO representative list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, the troupe traveled to Germany and France starting from January 28. The trouper visited Hanau, Frankfurt, Paris, and Lyon to showcase the unique charm of Yingge dance.
