China keeps reform to adapt to the changing world: Former Chancellor of Austria

The 2024 Imperial Springs International Forum is being held for the first time in Madrid, Spain, from December 11 to 12.

With the theme "Collective Action for Our Future," more than 40 former global dignitaries and over 20 experts from China and other countries attend the forum and discuss global hot topics, including artificial intelligence, global governance, sustainable development, and more.

Wolfgang Schüssel, former Chancellor of Austria, first visited China in the 1970s. In his opinion, the peaceful rise of China is a remarkable achievement that other countries can learn and understand.

"What inspires me is whenever I visit China, there is always the incentive that reform is necessary. In Europe, reforms are sometimes seen as a threat," he told GDToday.

He indicated that Chinese people understand that only reform can make the country adapt to a changing world, changing times, and changing society.

"If you see China today, this is a society with a flourishing economy," he stressed.
