Video | David Adeang, President of Nauru: This trip to China was beyond 10!

On the evening of March 28, David Adeang, President of the Republic of Nauru and his delegation arrived in Guangzhou. From March 24 to 29, Adeang paid a state visit to China. He has been in Beijing, Shaanxi and Hainan. Guangdong is the last stop of his trip to China.

On March 29, the delegation visited Nanfang Hospital in Guangzhou. They came to the hospital's Rehabilitation Therapy Center, to experience some of the latest medical equipment at the Motor Function Assessment Center.

This trip is the first state visit to China by the President since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nauru in January this year. When asked how he would grade this trip on a scale of 1 to 10, President Adeang replied, "It was beyond 10! It's been a very precious host, they’ve exceeded our expectations of what good hospitality and friendship can be.”

President Adeang said he had visited China about 20 years ago and was pleased to see the great developmental changes that have taken place in the country over the past 20 years, and these achievements, are impressive.

"It's remarkable in the amount of development that has happened (in Guangzhou) in the last 40 years. There are lessons for us to take back home to see what we can do to apply the lessons and turn the road to maybe a beacon of what progress and development can be in the Pacific."
