Minor Snow, the 20th solar term of the traditional Chinese calendar, falls around November 22nd each year. As the name suggests, the period signifies the arrival of snow, albeit only in small quantities.
However, winter hasn't completely crossed the Yangtze River Basin. In South China, it still looks like late autumn.
It is a folk custom to eat glutinous rice cake during Minor Snow in South China. On the day of Minor Snow, host Vivian Ma and Dr. Ben Drajat, Consul General of Indonesia in Guangzhou, embark on a China-Indonesia culinary journey to uncover the amazing connections between Hakka cuisine and Indonesian food.
