Overseas Chinese make efforts to promote culture and education, adding charm to Shenwan Village

Shenwan Village, nestled in the south of Banfu Town, Zhongshan City, is imprinted with the gene of "overseas Chinese". As a renowned overseas Chinese village, Shenwan preserves nearly 200 ancient buildings. Among the Chinese and Western combined houses of overseas Chinese, Shagang School stands out as the most famous.

In 1928, overseas Chinese from Shenwan funded the construction of Shagang School, which became the earliest school in Banfu. The school has nurtured countless talents, serving as a shared memory for Shenwan people both at home and abroad.

In 2021, the old site of Shagang School was restored to its original appearance, transforming into a village history museum and cultural center.

The successful preservation of Shagang School has also inspired Shenwan Village to revitalize the overseas Chinese houses. Shenwan, undergoing a remarkable transformation, awaits the return of wanderers to jointly witness its rebirth.
