At the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival, cultures from around the world converged—and among them, a vibrant spark from Guangdong shone brightly at ChinaSPAF (the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival and Performing Arts Fair).
Held from October 17 to 20, 2025, at the BOCOM NEW BUND 31 Performing Arts Center, ChinaSPAF marks the opening week of the annual festival. As Asia-Pacific's largest performing arts exchange market, the fair features forums, exhibitions, showcases, workshops, and networking sessions, drawing art institutions, creators, and cultural leaders from across the globe.
From the thrilling pop-up performances on October 18, featuring Guangdong's traditional Yingge dance and lion dance—both recognized as intangible cultural heritage—to the dynamic showcases by 19 institutions from the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, the fair became a vibrant hub of creativity and exchange. These captivating performances amazed international audiences, including artistic directors and representatives from major art institutions worldwide, who were impressed by the artistry, energy, and cultural depth of Lingnan traditions.
Artists from Italy, Norway, Canada, Montenegro, and beyond shared their passion for cultural exchange, exploring new partnerships and inspiration in China's cultural metropolis. Through this festival, Guangdong's rich Lingnan culture reached new audiences and found global resonance—demonstrating how tradition and innovation can move in harmony on the world stage.
