"China now has 470 industrial robots per 10,000 workers—more than twice the density in the United States," said Zhong Zheng, deputy to the National People's Congress and vice president and CFO of Midea Group, in an interview with GDToday in Beijing on March 9, 2025.
She noted that China has established a strong foundation in industrial applications and value chains. This has enabled the country to develop a diverse range of robots and equipment to meet the needs of various industries.
Zhong also highlighted China's growing capabilities in building supply chain ecosystems. She emphasized the importance of developing robotics solutions tailored to different countries and industries worldwide.
With this solid groundwork, she believes China's robotics industry is well-positioned to expand globally at a faster pace.
