A new Youth Council may be established in GBA: Member of UAE Youth Councils

“The relationship between China and UAE Youth Councils started years ago by sponsoring UAE students to study in China. Our future plan is to enhance bilateral engagement, and we might also establish a Youth Council in China in which the youths from both sides can join,” Lateefa Al Saedi, Member of Youth Councils of the United Arab Emirates, told GDToday in an interview at the Asia Youth Leaders Forum on March 26 in Nansha, Guangzhou.

According to Lateefa, there are seven Youth Councils under each Emirate in the UAE, with more than 2,000 members. “It’s a platform where the youths can talk freely and share their ideas with the government. Their proposals will be implemented as long as the ideas and advice are practical and can benefit the future of the UAE.”

In terms of the new Youth Council in China, Lateefa said the location had not been decided, but “most probably, it will be in the Guangdong Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA)”, because the region possesses world-class ports and a convenient transportation system.

Lateefa elaborated that the new Youth Council will be dedicated to empowering the youth. “We will help and support the youths to be more self-efficient. They can learn more from the government, and reach out to the Youth Council to share their views and ideas.”

“Meanwhile, we might also teach the UAE youths more about Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area, so that they can have more knowledge when they come here and visit,” said Lateefa.
