The relationship between China and the U.S. is one of the most significant bilateral relationships in the world, said world-renowned U.S. political scientist Joseph Nye, known for his 20-year cycle theory of China-U.S. relations. He suggests that since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the relationship has fluctuated in cycles of warmth and tension every two decades.
"In the long run, China and the U.S. will have better relations. But in the short term, differences still need to be addressed," Nye remarked.
