Canton Fair after-hours①: A futuristic concert at Canton Tower

As the 139th Canton Fair kicks off in Guangzhou, visitors are discovering that the city offers far more than just business opportunities. Just a short distance from the exhibition halls, the iconic Canton Tower presents a unique after-hours experience—a "future music concert", where robots and human musicians perform side by side.

Staged in the tower's main lobby, this concert merges cutting-edge robotics with live musical performances, creating an immersive, futuristic atmosphere. Equipped with advanced robotic hands and precision motion control technology, the robots are capable of playing instruments with remarkable accuracy, while human musicians breathe life and emotion into the performance, creating a dialogue between technology and art.

The performance features a diverse repertoire, ranging from Chinese classics such as "Jasmine Flower" to global pop hits, offering international audiences an experience that is both familiar and refreshingly new. During the Canton Fair, the concert has quickly become a popular attraction for overseas buyers and visitors, many of whom pause to film, watch, and interact with the performance.

"I like the combination because you mix robots and real people," said Ciprian Nica, a buyer from Romania. "Guangzhou is a really modern city. We are impressed by everything."

Conveniently located and easily accessible via Metro Line 3 (Canton Tower Station), the concert runs daily until May 25, with shows at 11:00, 13:00 (robot-only), 15:00, 16:00, and 17:00, featuring both robots and human musicians.

As Guangzhou continues to position itself as an international destination for consumption and tourism, experiences like this highlight the city's efforts to integrate culture, technology, and urban life. For visitors attending the Canton Fair, it serves as a simple reminder: beyond the exhibition halls, the city has a more vibrant and innovative side that awaits exploration.
