Guangdong, a province in southern China renowned for its stunning natural landscapes and captivating biodiversity, has once again proven why it is a magnet for global travelers. Recently in December, travel merchants from across the globe converged in Guangdong to experience the region's unique charm firsthand. This event welcomed participants from countries such as Japan, South Korea, Russia, Austria, France, and Azerbaijan, showcasing Guangdong's international allure. Among them, two merchants—one from South Africa and one from Azerbaijan—shared compelling insights into why Guangdong is a must-visit destination.
A decade of experience in Chinese tourism
Albertyn Charl Hofmeyr, a travel merchant from South Africa, has been promoting China's tourism for nearly a decade. He primarily organizes business and educational tours for travelers from English-speaking countries. During his visit, he was particularly captivated by the serene bamboo forests in Danxia Mountain, located in Shaoguan. "I had only ever read about these places in books or seen them in films," he shared. "You never truly understand the peace and tranquility until you experience it yourself."
Promoting Guangdong in Caucasia
Jabbarli Shahnaz, a travel merchant from Azerbaijan, has been involved in Chinese tourism for six years. She sees great potential in promoting Guangdong's distinctive offerings in the Caucasia region. "We came here as a travel agency to explore opportunities for introducing Guangdong to our audience," she explained. For Jabbarli, the significance of her work goes beyond economic benefits. "It's about creating memories that resonate with people—something far more meaningful than just numbers."
Guangdong: A tourism and business hub
Highlighting Guangdong's dual role as a business and innovation hub, Hofmeyr pointed out its competitive advantages, such as a visa-free transit policy allowing up to 240 hours of stay. And the diverse experiences that Guangdong offers can appeal to both leisure and business travelers. He emphasized the importance of incorporating nature and relaxation into travel itineraries, stating, "Guangdong offers a perfect blend of experiences for both business and leisure travelers, making it an excellent spot for tourism."
A gateway to diversified experiences
Both merchants agreed on Guangdong's ability to cater to various travel preferences, from tranquil escapes in natural settings to bustling business hubs. They noted the importance of diversifying experiences to keep visitors engaged, ensuring they leave with memorable impressions of the province.
The travel merchants' enthusiastic remarks underscore Guangdong's growing appeal on the international stage, showcasing its vast potential to attract global travelers and further enhance its status as a top-tier destination in China.
