The third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature and highest state organ of power, opened on March 5, 2025. At the top of the agenda is the deliberation of the government work report.
This report highlights China's economic and social progress over the past year, the challenges it has encountered, its newly set growth target of around 5%, and the policy roadmap for the year ahead—essentially shaping the direction for the country's development in the coming months.
With so much at stake, what are the key takeaways from the report? And what do they mean for China's future and the world? GDToday spoke with NPC deputies and a UN agency representative attending the meeting to gain insights.
