Located on the banks of Qiandeng Lake in Nanhai, Foshan, are two private museums, the Guangdong Daguan Museum and the Foshan Lingnan Museum of Finance, showcasing ancient cultural relics such as bronze ware, ceramics, jade artifacts, and coins.
These treasures embody China's rich heritage. Both museums are directed by Ding Fangzhong, who dedicated 40 years to collecting, spending his savings and mortgaging his company to acquire national treasures. In 2017, he founded these museums, housing nearly a quarter of Guangdong's national-level treasures.
He spends annually 10 million RMB to maintain them, organizing educational programs. Ding dreams of building a globally renowned museum in Guangdong, enhancing the region's cultural influence. In 2024, he was honored as the "Good Samaritan of Guangdong."
