Meizhou-Longchuan High-Speed Railway to open tomorrow

The Meilong High-speed Railway (HSR) is scheduled to open for operation on September 14,a significant milestone in China's railway development.

Notably, it marks the first high-speed railway in Guangdong Province to be fully funded, constructed, and approved by the province itself, operating at a breathtaking speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

Spanning a total length of 98 kilometers, the Meilong HSR boasts a grand investment of 16.6 billion yuan. Traversing the picturesque landscapes of Meizhou and Heyuan, the line boasts four stations along its route: Meizhou West, Xingning South (a newly constructed station), Wuhua (also newly built), and Longchuan West. These stations will not only facilitate swift travel but also enhance connectivity within the region.

After opening, passengers departing from Meizhou West Railway Station will only take 29 minutes to reach Longchuan West, one hour and 47 minutes to Guangzhou East, and one hour and 36 minutes to Shenzhen North.

This unprecedented level of connectivity holds profound implications for promoting the integration of traditional revolutionary bases like Meizhou and Heyuan into the vibrant Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA).

It further accelerates the interconnectivity between the West Coast Economic Zone and the GBA, thereby bolstering the province's Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Projects initiative aimed at fostering balanced regional development.

The Meilong HSR is not just about faster trains and shorter travel times; it represents a leap forward in regional cooperation and economic growth. It will undoubtedly reshape the transportation landscape of southern China, bringing new opportunities for business, tourism, and cultural exchange to the areas it serves.

As the countdown to its official opening begins, residents and passengers are becoming more and more excited and are eagerly looking forward to the arrival of a new era of seamless connectivity.
