A test train in Macao descends from an elevated track towards the Lotus Bridge and traverses the Shizimen Waterway via an underwater tunnel, entering Hengqin.
Recently, the connecting passageway project between the Macao LRT Taipa Line and Hengqin Line stations has been completed. The test train has entered the Hengqin Line, and relevant system and train testing have commenced, with the Macao LRT expected to reach Hengqin in October.
The Macao LRT Extension to Hengqin Line project, a key cross-border livelihood project for Qin-Macao, officially commenced on March 18, 2021. According to the planning blueprint, the connecting passageway between the LRT Taipa Line and Hengqin Line stations is located on the east side of the 1st-floor podium of the Lotus Complex in Cotai (formerly the Lotus Port area), linking the Hengqin Line HE1 Station with the Taipa Line Lotus Station, enabling "seamless transfers" between the two lines on the same level for the convenience of residents and passengers.
In the near future, Qin-Macao residents and travelers will be able to take the LRT from their "doorsteps" to travel between Qin and Macao, experiencing firsthand the comfortable and convenient cross-border travel environment. With the accelerated formation of the "One-Hour Living Circle" in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it will also become a new trend for residents of the two regions to take leisurely strolls across the bay.
