Video | A joyful welcome from Chimelong Circus at Baiyun Airport

On July 19th, a vibrant Chimelong Circus Parade unexpectedly delighted travelers at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport's (Baiyun Airport) Terminal 2. Adored mascots like Kaka Tiger and Bobby danced joyfully, while clowns entertained with their amusing antics. The "greeting team" from Chimelong brought a fusion of dance and acrobatics featuring elements from Russia, Kenya, South America, and other regions. The unique costumes paired with dynamic melodies instantly turned the airport into a sea of joy, offering a unique experience to travelers and newcomers to Guangzhou during the summer season.

The 30-minute spectacle left the audience craving more, with children and adults rushing to take photos with the circus stars. It is reported that this summer, the collaborative flash mob events between Chimelong and Baiyun Airport will continue, with a variety of performances scheduled every Wednesday and Friday, complemented by special events that will be introduced intermittently.

As the summer travel rush kicks off, there is a surge in demand for tourism, family reunions, and other purposes, leading to a steady rise in Baiyun Airport's passenger traffic. With an average daily passenger flow exceeding 200,000 since the beginning of July, the airport forecasts a more than 10% increase in the number of travelers served compared to the same period in 2023.

To meet the summer travel demands, Baiyun Airport has proactively coordinated with airlines in advance to increase flight capacity. Cities such as Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chongqing, Nanjing, and Hangzhou each have more than 20 flights arriving and departing daily. In terms of international flights, following the opening and increase of nine international passenger routes in June, Baiyun Airport will open and increase more than ten international passenger routes in July, including routes to Paris, Amsterdam, Nairobi, Auckland, etc. At the beginning of July, Baiyun Airport, in collaboration with its base airline China Southern Airlines, introduced five "international express lines" from Guangzhou to Southeast Asia, covering five popular destinations: Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi.

With the implementation of policies such as 24-hour customs clearance and 144-hour visa-free transit, inbound tourism is also heating up. More and more foreign tourists are choosing"China Travel" to immerse themselves in the charm of Chinese culture. Guangzhou, as one of the top destinations for international tourists, recorded over 2.06 million inbound foreign travelers through Baiyun Airport in just the first half of this year. The transfer tour counter at Baiyun Airport's T2 international arrivals hall is now officially open, allowing passengers with foreign passports and transferring internationally to sign up for free and delve into Guangzhou's natural scenery and local customs.
