"When we staged the opera Marco Polo, we shouldn't simply depict him as a traveler or make him a mere observer. Instead, we portrayed him as a witness and participant in the collision of civilizations between China and the West in the 13th century," said Mr. Wei Jin, librettist of Opera Marco Polo and distinguished professor at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, at "An Encounter With Marco Polo" GDToday Salon held on May 4 in Guangzhou.
