Starting from September 4, the leaders of China and Africa will gather in Beijing for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Over 3,000 journalists from China and abroad have signed up to cover the event. This marks the highest number of media representatives to register for any FOCAC summit to date.
"My understanding of promoting a community of a shared future is that as China goes up, it wants other smaller countries to grow with it," said Francis D.N. Pelenah Jr., a Liberian journalist, in an interview with GDToday on September 4 in Beijing.
He noted that China has been teaching Africans how to "fish" through cooperative projects instead of only giving the locals "fish".
Bryan Morris Ochieng Otieno, a Kenyan journalist, told GDToday that he praises China's foreign policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. "This gives us a chance to develop at our own pace," he noted.
