At the invitation of the Teochew Federation (Singapore), a 45-member Southern Chaoyang Loyal & Excellent Yingge Dance Group went to Singapore to participate in cultural exchanges from December 19 to 23.
In the afternoon of December 21, the group performed on the Winter Solstice for a reunion celebration. Performers were well received by local Chinese and international friends.
"They dress up handsomely. Also, their moves are quite seamless. We feel very proud. I hope they can visit more and come often," said Chinese Singaporean Miss Fang.
During their visit to Singapore, there were 4 performances of Yingge Dance, and they returned to China on December 23.
Chaoyang Yingge, a national intangible cultural heritage project, is an emotional dance of the Han nationality. It is a relic of Nuo Culture. It is a folk art with unique expression formed by Chaoyang people in long-term practice. It has a history of thousands of years.
Originating from the ancient Nuo dance, Chaoyang Yingge took shape in the Tang and Song Dynasties and became very popular in the Ming Dynasty. It spread widely in a fan shape with Chaoyang as the center and continued to evolve during the spread.
In November 1996, Chaoyang was named the hometown of Chinese Folk Art (Yingge Art) by the Chinese Ministry of Culture. Chaoyang Yingge was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists in May 2006.
Southern Chaoyang Loyal & Excellent Yingge Dance Group was established in 1996.
The team's mission is loyalty and excellence, dedication and collaboration, inheritance and innovation.
Over the years, it has been invited to participate in large-scale folk performances all over the world, and is especially popular in Southeast Asian countries.
