City sparks global fashion wave with Dalang & Humen shows

This week, Dongguan is set to become a star of global fashion with two major events taking the stage simultaneously. From November 20 to 22, the 21st China (Dalang) Woolen Knitwear Fair will take place in Dalang. At the same time, the 2024 Global Apparel Conference, the 27th China (Humen) International Fashion Fair, and the 2024 Greater Bay Area (Humen) Fashion Week will be held in Humen from November 20 to 24.

Themed "Made in Dongguan, Made by Art", these events aim to showcase Dongguan's prowess in the textile and garment industries while fostering global partnerships and innovation. This marks the first time the two renowned fashion IPs, "Humen Fashion" and "Dalang Woolen," collaborate to amplify Dongguan's brand as a fashion powerhouse.

Dalang knitwear fair

Dalang, known as one of the world's largest knitwear hubs, produces an astounding 900 million sweaters annually. Its well-established supply chain and robust production capabilities make it a global leader. The Woolen Knitwear Fair, established in 2001, has grown into a prestigious event in the industry, promoting innovation in digitization, intelligence, and fashion.

This year's fair, running from November 20 to 22, will feature over 800 booths and 2,000 vendor displays covering the entire supply chain, from knitwear to textile machinery. Highlights include trend releases, fashion shows, forums, and procurement meetings. For the first time, satellite venues in Shanghai, Chengdu, Dalian, and Puyuan will extend its reach.

A standout innovation is the debut of "AI + On-site customization." Visitors can design their unique sweater in a digital space, utilizing 3D simulation for instant feedback. Impressively, the entire process, from customization to production, takes as little as two hours, creating one-of-a-kind pieces.

Cultural integration is also a key element, with activities like the first "Knitwear Design Contest," a woolen cultural exhibition, and even a "coffee + knitwear" crossover experience.

To ensure accessibility, a free shuttle bus service will operate from November 16 to 25, making it easier for residents and tourists to attend the fair.

Humen fashion fairs

Humen has long been a cornerstone of China's fashion industry, playing a pivotal role on the global stage. This year, the city brings together three major events for the first time: the 2024 Global Apparel Conference, the 27th China (Humen) International Fashion Fair, and the 2024 Greater Bay Area (Humen) Fashion Week, from November 20 to 24.

The lineup is nothing short of extraordinary. Highlights include keynote conferences, creative fashion tours, trend forecasts, and showcases of green and tech-driven innovations. Over 12 unique fashion shows will spotlight diverse styles, while global luminaries from nearly 20 countries, including France, Italy, Japan, and South Korea, will attend to discuss the future of fashion, along with top designers and brands. International designers will connect with Chinese brands, forging groundbreaking collaborations.

The fair also extends its influence to the public, with citywide shopping festivals, half-marathon, and immersive events engaging millions. A series of promotions across key retail venues like Wanda Plaza and Rainbow Mall promises a vibrant fashion carnival for all.

These events serve as a dynamic platform for industry leaders and the public alike to experience the future of fashion. As a global manufacturing hub, Dongguan has been transforming its traditional textile industry into a powerhouse of innovation, merging technology, advanced manufacturing, and cultural branding. With over 1,100 large-scale textile companies generating an output of more than 90 billion RMB in 2023, Dongguan is redefining the global perception of "Made in China."
