Intl influencers explore the tranquility of Huizhou City's West Lake under China's new 240-hour visa-free transit policy

On December 17, a group of overseas travel agents and influencers visited the West Lake in Huizhou, a city next to Shenzhen.

This visit is part of a broader effort to introduce Guangdong as a tourist destination to the world as China keeps loosing its entry policies for international travellers. On the same day of their visit, China announced it would extend its visa-free transit from the previous 72 hours and 144 hours to 240 hours (10 days).

The West Lake, a 5A-level scenic spot, is surrounded by lush greenery and traditional architecture amid the modern city. It is historically notable for its association with the renowned poet and statesman Su Shi (1037–1101 A.D.), who had served as governor in Huizhou and left a lasting cultural impact on the site.

Basking in the gentle winter sunlight, the group marvelled at the lake's serene beauty and rich history. Sabina, an influencer from Russia, expressed her appreciation for the tranquillity of the lake. "In the city, you always rush, but here you can come, rest, and just enjoy life."

She noticed the difference between the lakes and parks in China and Russia in the traditional architecture around the lake. "Chinese lakes and parks are more traditional. But in Russia maybe they are more about nature," the girl remarked.

Augustine, an influencer living in London and Shanghai, highly recommended Huizhou's mild winter weather and found it comfortable for people who don't like the cold compared to other parts of China.

Next, these overseas travelers will continue their visit to Guangdong to explore the province's rich heritage, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes.
