Themed exhibitions at Shougang Park: Guangdong TCM showcases at CIFTIS

The themed exhibitions of the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) were recently held at the iconic Shougang Park, igniting a flourish of technological innovations and cultural exchanges.

The exhibitions showcased a wide array of sectors, including sports, culture, medical health, financial services and more, attracting participants from over 85 countries and international organizations.

Set against the backdrop of Shougang's industrial heritage, the fair's themed exhibitions integrate historical significance with modern development. The revamped Shougang Park, once the heart of the capital's steel industry, now pulses with a different kind of energy as it transforms into a hub for global service trade.

The event featured numerous interactive experiences, ranging from AI-driven sports training to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapies, providing a comprehensive look at the future of service trade.

One of the highlights was the AI and robotics showcase, where visitors had the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technology. "I just tried table tennis with the robot, and that's kind of fun," shared Adam, a participating student from Tajikistan, noting the blend of sports and technology as a key attraction.

The fair also served as a platform for international exchange, with representatives from various countries expressing their admiration for the event. A visitor from Pakistan, Shahid Baig, highlighted China's prowess in AI, stating, "Chinese are very good at AI now." He further added that the CIFTIS exhibitions were great channels for getting more information, saying, "I think it's a very good trade fair. It's very informative, and it's worthwhile visiting."

At the medical health-themed exhibition hall, traditional practices were not overlooked, as TCM took center stage, offering a glimpse into China's long-standing medical heritage. The Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine was among the participants as a representative of the province, promoting their in-house preparations and TCM traditional treatments. "This time, we want to bring some star products of our hospital to the CIFTIS," Dr. Li Yingxian, who is from the hospital, explained. The two star products, namely in-house preparation and TCM external treatments, showcase the potential for Guangdong TCM to reach a wider audience through CIFTIS.

The exhibition of the hospital also provided a glimpse into China's culinary culture, with books on soup brewing, a staple in Guangdong cuisine. "These books represent the essence of our nationally and provincially renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioners," Dr. Li noted, indicating the fair's role in promoting cultural knowledge.

The event was not just a showcase but also a marketplace where deals were struck and partnerships were formed. From high-tech innovations to traditional practices, CIFTIS 2024 was a melting pot of ideas and innovations, reflecting China's status as a major player in the global service trade landscape.
