When ice and snow meet Chinese intangible cultural heritage in Harbin

What happens when ice and snow sports meet Chinese intangible cultural heritage? The answer lies in Harbin at the 9th Asian Winter Games! From intricate paper cutting of winter sports like curling, biathlon, ski jumping, and speed skiing, to stunning wood carvings depicting life in northeastern China. While exploring the beautiful art of paper cutting, I met a journalist from Kazakhstan, who's covered major sports events in China, including the Olympics. Through our conversation, I learned how to say "friendship forever" in Russian—a small but powerful phrase that captured the spirit of our meeting. In return, I shared a paper cut with him. In Harbin, the ice and snow aren't just part of the landscape, they are a canvas for culture and tradition, reminding us of the beauty of connection, culture, and friendship.
