C919 has successfully made its maiden flight on Shanghai-Guangzhou route

On June 14th, 2024, at 11:40 AM, China's self-developed large aircraft C919 landed smoothly at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, marking the official launch of C919's fourth regular commercial route. It was the first time for China Eastern's C919 passenger aircraft, with the flight number B-919A, to operate flight MU5309, carrying 162 passengers from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport.

China Eastern is currently the only airline operating the C919, with a fleet of up to 6 aircraft. The Shanghai-Guangzhou route is an important "high-quality express line" for China Eastern, with a flight volume of 36 flights per day (round trip). With the C919 aircraft now operating on this route, in addition to the existing Shanghai Hongqiao-Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Hongqiao-Chengdu Tianfu, and Shanghai Hongqiao-Xi'an Xianyang routes, it will be more convenient for passengers to travel on domestically developed large passenger jet.

The C919's operation on the new Shanghai-Guangzhou route has realized the commercial launch of the C919 to major aviation hubs such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Xi'an. This will not only facilitate more passengers, businesspeople, and domestic and foreign tourists to experience China-made large aircraft, but will also attract young people and students during the upcoming summer travel peak season.
