During ongoing China's "two sessions", over 267 journalists from 107 domestic and international media outlets gathered for an extraordinary event—the Guangdong Delegation Open Day on March 6. This unique event offered a barrier-free glimpse into how NPC deputies from Guangdong deliberate on the government work report while truly embodying the spirit of whole-process people's democracy.
One of the international reporters, Desca from Indonesia's Antara News Agency, has been fascinated by Guangdong's dynamism and innovation since her previous visits. "My purpose today was to understand Guangdong's priorities for 2025 and explore opportunities for deeper economic collaboration," she explained, highlighting the strong business ties between Indonesia and Guangdong.
During the Q&A session, Desca actively engaged with insightful questions and was impressed by the openness of the deputies and the seamless interaction between media and government. "Seeing reporters so close to the deputies was truly eye-opening," she remarked, adding that she learned a lot about how ideas from different groups and communities are gathered to shape policy.
After a day filled with valuable insights and spirited debate, Desca received a thoughtful gift—a set of mascots for China's 15th National Games, scheduled for November in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. This gesture perfectly encapsulated Guangdong's warm hospitality and its commitment to inviting the world into its democratic process.
As we've seen, Guangdong is more than just a province; it's a dynamic bridge between China and the world, offering endless opportunities for collaboration.
Thank you, Desca for joining me in this episode of "Nice to meet you". Curious about our next guest? Stay tuned.
