Dongguan has a new leisure destination over Dongjiang

On August 1, Dongguan unveiled its newest attraction, the "Wanghong Bridge" over the Dongjiang Embankment, which has quickly become a popular destination.

This stunning bridge spans the Dongjiang Embankment in Shipai Town, linking the slow-traffic systems on both sides of the embankment. The northern side features a versatile activity space, while the southern side offers a range of sports facilities, including extreme sports areas, children's play spaces, and expansive lawns.

The main bridge, stretching 123 meters, boasts a sturdy steel box girder structure. Painted primarily in red with white accents, it appears as a red ribbon adorning the Dongjiang River.

From the viewing platforms on the bridge, visitors can enjoy the lush greenery of the under-construction Wetland Park and the vibrant energy of Binjiang Sports Park. At sunset, this spot becomes a prime location for capturing breathtaking scenery.

For safety reasons, electric vehicles, bicycles, and scooters are prohibited on the bridge. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the serene environment while adhering to safety guidelines to maintain this harmonious public space.

From a bird's-eye view over the Dongjiang River, citizens can see the project's current progress. The completed section connects the sports area of Binjiang Sports Park to the northern embankment's greenway system, allowing visitors to walk from Jinxiu Jiangnan Station to Tianliao Dragon Boat House. The construction above the dotted line (excluding the main bridge) is still in progress and not yet open to the public.

Once the ongoing construction is completed, visitors will be able to walk from the southern parking area of Binjiang Sports Park towards Shipai Park, taking in the scenic views of the Wetland Park (under construction) below the bridge. Occasionally, they might even spot egrets resting in the area.
