67-year-old steerswoman makes a splash in Guangdong dragon boat race

The 2024 Guangdong Dragon Boat Tournament stirred the waters of Moyang River in Yangchun of west Guangdong's Yangjiang City on Sunday (June 2), gathering 24 dragon boat teams and nearly 700 paddlers to compete in the 200-meter and 500-meter races.

There were six participating female dragon boat teams this year. Among them, the one from Machong in Dongguan City stole the spotlight during the race, with the average age of team members exceeding 50 years old. The steerswoman, who has been participating in dragon boating for over 20 years, is now 67 years old!
