China, Africa to set off modernization wave in Global South

The 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is taking place from Wednesday to Friday in Beijing. Modernization is at the heart of this summit, as China says it will partner with Africa to "set off a wave of modernization in the Global South".

China announced on Thursday morning that it will work with Africa to implement 10 partnership action plans to jointly advance modernization.

The 10 partnership action plans, to be carried out in the next three years, cover the areas of mutual learning among civilizations, trade prosperity, industrial chain cooperation, connectivity, development cooperation, health, agriculture and livelihoods, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, green development and common security.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and top diplomats from Africa held a press conference late Thursday to introduce the achievements reached at this summit.
