In September 2013, the Silk Road Economic Belt was introduced. In the past ten years, the blueprint has become a reality. Trade between China and Kazakhstan reached a record high of more than 24 billion US dollars last year. China also became Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in the first half of this year.
Shigeo Katsu, former President at Nazarbayev University, witnessed the birth of the Silk Road Economic Belt. In an interview, he told SFC’s reporter that the Belt and Road Initiative achieved quite substantial results.
Katsu said, “in 10 years, I think the Belt and Road Initiative achieved quite substantial results. But overall, I think China would put to the world a new paradigm of how to interact and how to build global bridges”.
10-year is a beginning. As the steady development of an eternal all-round strategic partnership, China and Kazakhstan will have more cooperation in the future.
