Italian industrial design masterpieces on display in Guangzhou

Following the successful exhibition in Shenzhen, the exhibition ITALIA GENIALE is being displayed at the Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (Changgang Campus) in Guangzhou until August 15, 2023.

During the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which wrapped up on August 2, Giorgio Daviddi, Acting Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou, highlighted the creativity and ingenuity of Italian design.

“We are bringing here more than 70 items or products that are a paradigmatic example of how the Italian design can bring together functionality, innovation, and at the same time, a beauty and sense of aesthetic.”

Giorgio Daviddi also expressed his gratitude to the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA), one of the co-organizers of this exhibition. According to him, a series of cultural activities, such as Italian Language Week and Italian Cuisine Week, will be held from October to November this year in cooperation with many cultural institutions in Guangdong.

Fan Bo, President of the GAFA, addressed the opening ceremony. He said the academy has been communicating with many higher art institutions, such as the Rome Academy of Fine Arts in Italy.

“I hope this kind of communication can continue in the future, and we can use these opportunities to bring our own design and artworks to European countries, such as Italy, for exhibitions, dialogues and exchanges.”

This exhibition intends to spotlight the invention, creativity, and design behind “Made in Italy”. The overall interpretive framework was “driven” by design, since this discipline constantly aims to achieve innovation, linking function and beauty while always considering the user as the central focus of every creative activity.

In the exhibition, the concept of enabling is expressed in the following five different categories: “move-able”, “live-able”, “imagine-able”, “relation-able”, and “work-able”. Over 70 selected design items on display showcase the ingenuity and creativity that has made Italy a global leader in design.
