In Nanqiao Village, Wuguishan, Zhongshan, there are neither betel nuts nor betel palms, but there is a "Betel Nut Mountain Road".
Betel nut is a plant introduced to China from Southeast Asia. Walking along this road, you will find that this over 300-year-old village, has countless connections with Southeast Asia. This is the Southern Overseas Chinese Garden.
In the steel "forest", the footprints of Zhongshan's overseas Chinese who ventured abroad and pursued their dreams around the world are engraved here. Here is also the ancestral home of Koo Yuen Kim, a Chinese Malaysian and renowned entrepreneur.
In fact, one hundred years ago, Nanqiao Village was a vital passageway for Xiangshan people to go overseas. The Qi'ao Ancient Road, known as "half of Xiangshan's modern history", is hidden in the mountains and forests of Nanqiao Village.
