Maoming's specialties win praise in Beijing during New Year event

On January 17, 2025, the Guangdong Maoming Specialty Agricultural Products International Tasting and Promotion Event was held in Beijing.

Themed "Good-Hearted Maoming, Quality Products to Share," the event featured a variety of activities, including a Maoming-themed festive street, a showcase of "Xin" brand agricultural products, and the launch of the 2025 lychee customization program.

Maoming boasts over 350 types of local specialties. It leads Guangdong Province in the production of rice, fruits, meat, and poultry eggs. The city is home to the largest economic forest production base in China, the world's largest lychee production base, and a major tilapia farming and processing hub.

At the "Maoming Festive Street," over 300 products were showcased, including lychees, longans, agarwood, Hua Ju Hong (Exocarpium Citri Grandis), Sanhua plums, tilapia, and Gaoliang greens, offering visitors a delightful and interactive experience.

Aizhan, a guest from Kazakhstan, tasted Maoming's tilapia and squid balls on-site and was impressed. "This is a unique Chinese flavor, very delicious and perfect for hot pot," she said, enthusiastically giving her approval. "I'd love to buy these in the future."

At the 2025 Maoming Lychee Customization Program, the first batch featured three ancient lychee trees from Maoming's Gu Gong Garden, which were adopted by Radouane Chaouki, Deputy Head of Mission (Counselor) at the Embassy of Morocco in China; Adhinand Indrapim, Minister-Counselor for Agriculture at the Embassy of Thailand in China; and Liu Zhijia, Co-founder of Yimutian.

"I look forward to visiting Maoming in May to pick and taste fresh lychees," said Adhinand Indrapim, who received a plaque granting her the 2025 lychee harvesting rights for an ancient lychee tree in Maoming.
