Global Eyes on China | Alcides de Pina: China has set an important example for us

The Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Further Deepening Reform Comprehensively to Advance Chinese Modernization emphasizes promoting integrated urban-rural development. It states: "We will refine the regular mechanisms for preventing rural residents from lapsing or relapsing into poverty and establish a system of multi-tiered and categorized support for low-income rural residents and underdeveloped areas."

Alcides de Pina, Member of the National Assembly of Cape Verde, shared his reflections with an SFC reporter following a visit to China. He noted that Cape Verde is striving to eradicate poverty and acknowledged the significant work required to solve housing problems and improve living conditions. "China has set an important example for us," he remarked, observing the transformation of areas once considered poverty-stricken into major tourist destinations. He was particularly impressed by China's tremendous development and how it has become a model for countries around the world.

Reflecting on his past experiences, De Pina mentioned his dedication to learning from Japan's management model in the 1990s but acknowledged that China's current development model has far surpassed his earlier understanding. "China's development model today seems to be the most suitable development model for developing countries like us," he concluded, highlighting the relevance and admiration for China's approach to growth and innovation.
