"China's policy initiative and development directions have a profound impact on the world, and particularly the emphasis that China opens its door wider to the global south." Mulatu Teshome, Former President of Ethiopia, said in his speech at the opening ceremony at the 8th Understanding China Conference, noting that this can be seen as inclusive globalization with the notion of no one is left behind.
He pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative has become the most popular public goods in the global south, and that the progress of China's modernization will further benefit the developing countries of the global south, promoting an open world economy and advancing the building of a community with a shared feature for mankind.
Starting from Dec 2 to 4, the 8th Understanding China Conference is being held in Guangzhou, Guangdong, themed 'Carry Through the Reform to the End: Chinese Modernization and New Opportunities for World Development', gathering approximately 600 attendees from all over the world, ranging from former political leaders, scholars, entrepreneurs, to delegates of international organizations, to explore China's development path and its global impact.
