Solar Term Global Potluck | Autumn Equinox

The middle of autumn sees yields cherished.  Ancient Chinese worshipped the moon on the day of Autumn Equinox, praying for the gods’ blessings. The traditional custom of viewing the moon at the Mid-Autumn Festival has derived from this ancient ritual.

On the day of Autumn Equinox, host Vivian Ma and United States Consul General in Guangzhou, Ms. Lisa K. Heller, traveled to Guangdong's Taishan with their own special desserts - Cantonese mooncakes and homemade American apple pie - and explored the legendary story of Dean Lung, a famous figure at Columbia University.

In addition, Ms. Lisa K. Heller is also invited to experience Cantonese delicacies from 35 years ago and taste the classic Cantonese cuisine. Ms. Heller, who has shown constant attention to China-U.S. education exchanges, shared with us her early-time story of teaching in China, and talked about her understanding of "heaven rewards the diligent".

As a saying goes, everything yields to diligence. As the two countries to be great again, China and the United States rely on their peoples to keep working hard for it.
