Major Cold, the last solar term of the Chinese lunar year, falls around January 20 every year.
Major Cold marks both the end of the year and the start of a new one. During this solar term, the festive atmosphere gets stronger and stronger in the streets and lanes. Important traditional festivals such as Chinese New Year's Eve and Spring Festival are on the way and will be celebrated across the country.
On the day of Major Cold, host Vivian Ma and Mr. Soeren Bindesboell, Consul General of Denmark in Guangzhou, taste the Cantonese traditional snack, fried glutinous rice; practice calligraphy of the Chinese character “Fu”, and engage in a cultural discussion about Chinese Spring Festival traditions in Denmark.
In return, Mr. Soeren Bindesboell invites Vivian to his residence to enjoy a traditional Danish Christmas meal with his family, which is roasted pork and Danish rice pudding. He shares the Danish culture "Hygge", the history of Sino-Danish trade and his expectations for 2023.
After Major Cold, everything will regain its vitality. The friendship between China and Denmark grows ever stronger. In the new era, although we face many common challenges, we have persevered in our common pursuit of happiness. Let's walk hand-in-hand towards a better future.
