April 17 marks the third day of Phase I of the 135th Canton Fair. "I've already been here for two days. I've talked to around 10 or 11 interesting suppliers that are perfect for our business. This year, we will place a lot of orders to expand our business," said Remco Lunshof, a buyer from the Netherlands, when sharing his story with GDToday about the Canton Fair.
Flying to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on April 13, he immediately went to Shenzhen to visit the factory of a supplier he met last year. This is his second time in Shenzhen. Like last time, he also had a good conversation with the supplier and saw some new products from the company.
Together with his supplier - Shenzhen Keeping Technology Co., Ltd., he returned to Guangzhou on April 15, the first day of the 135th Canton Fair. "We go to the Canton Fair to look for new products, new for our range. And I think the Canton Fair is a perfect place to see new products and find good suppliers to add to your range," he said.
I love my supplier
Last year, Remco came to the Autumn Canton Fair for the first time in October. At that time, he was also looking for new products for his company - Vibrix, an air purifier company in the Netherlands.
Stumbling upon an exhibition booth, he met Rachel Yu, the sales manager of Shenzhen Keeping Technology Co., Ltd., a professional manufacturer of air purifiers.
"We had a good talk, a good conversation. She's very open to helping you and thinking along with you about the products. So at that moment, we went directly to the factory to look, but we had a short time," he said.
After visiting the factory, he also went sightseeing in the city with Rachel as his tour guide. He had a very enjoyable time before going straight back home.
"Shenzhen is a very beautiful city. We had a nice dinner and drank a little Chinese wine. Again, very good. I like China. I like the people, the mentality of the people, and the food, and I love my supplier," he added.
And Rachel felt the same way. "Currently, we're working on two kinds of products together. Next, we will add four more products, with a business deal targeting hundreds of thousands of U.S. dollars, " she said.
Multifunctional products fit for the Dutch market
Remco's company has been around for four years in the business of air purifiers. Now, the company is expanding to another business: humidifiers. So that's a new range of products he is looking for at this year's Canton Fair.
"The cooperation with China is good because of good products with high quality. We have another partner in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province. So I think that's a flight of around two hours. That's design-driven. We really like to work with them," he said.
From his perspective, the multifunctional products are perfect for his company and the Dutch market, given the weather pattern in the Netherlands.
"We see an air purifier heater, so two in one. I think that's very interesting because a lot of times, it's cold in the Netherlands. The products work very well. So that's one new product we saw at the fair and we like it," he added.
He also saw a three in one product that can cool the room, heat up the room, and clean the room. He found that very interesting as the supplier combines different functions to make a good product.
Through the fair, he has not only met many new suppliers that he really likes but also continued adding to their product range to expand their business in markets including the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
