Cross-sea passages construction well underway in GBA

Recently, the construction of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link and Huangmao Sea Bridge has seen steady advancement.

The E18 pipe section, with a total length of 165 meters, was successfully installed underwater after 23 hours and 20 minutes of work on April 24th.

The total length of installed pipe sections has reached 3,877.8 meters so far, exceeding three quarters of the total length of the underwater tunnel (5035 meters).

The catwalk system of the Lingdingyang Bridge has completed construction. The system is a temporary walkway structure on the suspension part of the bridge.

Lingdingyang Bridge, one of the main sections of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link has a total length of 1,666 meters.

Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is expected to open to traffic in 2024. By then, it will take just about 20 minutes to travel from Zhongshan to Shenzhen. 

Huangmao Sea Bridge

The first span segment beam of the Huangmao Sea project’s east approach bridge was successfully installed at 11 am on April 25th.

With 25 percent construction work finished, the five main towers of the two main bridges (Huangmao Sea bridge and Gaolan Port bridge) are expected to be capped in mid-2023.

The project is expected to open to traffic in 2024. So far, 80 percent of the foundation for over 3,000 root piles and 40 percent of the concrete pouring for the piles of the approach bridges have been finished.

According to the Guangdong Government Work report in 2022, the province will focus on the construction of cross-river and cross-sea passages such as Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, Huangmao Sea Bridge, and Shiziyang Tunnel.
