How are international school in Guangzhou preparing for online schooling during pandemic?

From April 11, all primary and secondary schools in Guangzhou suspended offline classes and switched to online schooling.

American International School of Guangzhou(AISG) is the first international school in southern China. On April 12th, the school started online classes, covering a total of 1067 students.

Online schooling could be difficult for students, the counselors in school are ready to help those with social and emotional needs. The librarians, EAL specialists, learning support, and advisors in school also provide students with resources, online meeting time, read-aloud sessions. During the online schooling period, the school have created tech channels and systems for the faculty and for parents and students respectively.

“The school is fully prepared for this online learning, and has already told the children that it is possible to conduct online schooling. I feel that the setting of online courses and assignments is also reasonable. Although it is online teaching, my child's mood has not been affected, and the classroom effect is also good.” A mother who accompanied her child to participate in online schooling said.

Interestingly, online teaching also seems to bring teachers and students closer together. “Teachers and kids shared their pets and houses to one another, so students felt a stronger sense of community.” Another parent said.
