Expats' stories shared in short video solicitation event

"My Guangdong Story" Global Solicitation for Short Videos is now in full swing. Over 100 videos solicited are now on display on the official webpage.

Kate from Russia, a teacher at Guiwai Campus of Nanhai Experimental Middle School in Foshan, came to the city about five years ago. In her video titled "It's the right place for me", she shares her daily life in Foshan such as making friends in a dance studio and teaching students as well as how she fell in love with this city. "People here are also friendly and it's really comfortable to talk to them," said Kate, "they're warm as the weather."

Kate mentioned that she doesn't want to leave Foshan and enjoys her life here. "I think it was a good idea to come here. I enjoy working here and living here. I'm really grateful and happy to have people around me and have work like this."

The video "俄罗斯Laughing哥的'圳'生活 (A Russian in Shenzhen)" tells the story of Evgeny, a Korean Russian living in Shenzhen for six years. He founded an e-commerce company engaged in cross-border trade between China and Russia, mainly sourcing electronic products. "China now has very strong R&D capabilities," said Evgeny.

"You may meet different people every day, so, you can learn more about business opportunities." Evgeny believes that there is no limit to personal development in Shenzhen. "If you want something and you have the right ability, then you can try different ways to achieve it." Evgeny said, "Shenzhen is a city of fairness."

In addition to expat careers in Guangdong, they are also impressed by the culture and scenery of the province. Alexander Lloyd submitted a short video about his trip in Guangzhou's Shawan ancient town, where he believes is a travel to the past. "The great details of the Lingnan Culture are preserved in this unique and authentic place. Full of colors and happy people, Shawan is a live representation of history."

Furthermore, Peter Lopez shared an aerial video of Guangzhou titled "Beautiful Guangzhou from above", showcasing the beauty of some of the iconic places and landmarks of the city, such as Canton Tower, Sacred Heart Cathedral, and Shamian.
