Guangdong recently unveiled the latest foreign trade statistics from the first quarter of 2018, indicating that the province’s import and export value was experiencing stable growth.
The total value of foreign trade hit 1.56 trillion RMB, increasing 8.2% year on year, with an export value of 909.41 billion RMB and import value of 651.34 billion RMB respectively.
Private companies in Guangdong have played a key role in foreign trade and their import and export value totalled 746.22 billion RMB, accounting for 47.8% of the overall figure.
Moreover, Guangdong’s foreign trade with countries and regions across Belt and Road Initiative has increased significantly; with a total of 358.55 billion RMB, a dramatic 10.5% rise.
Guangdong’s Sub-Administration of China Customs highlighted how Guangdong has witnessed a more balanced structure of import and export and has been striving for a more open market.
