We are both investors and beneficiaries of high-quality development in Guangdong: chairman of Guangdong Overseas Chinese Enterprises Association

"We must tell the stories of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs investing in Guangdong to attract more foreign businessmen to get to know Guangdong and China as well as to make investment here," said Koo Yuen Kim, chairman of Guangdong Overseas Chinese Enterprises Association, when sharing with GDToday before the Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Investment (Guangdong) Conference (February 24 to 25).

Born in Zhongshan, Guangdong, Koo Yuen Kim is a third-generation Malaysian Chinese. In early 1994, he established the Perfect (China) Co., Ltd. in his hometown Zhongshan.

Ever since, his company has expanded in pace with China's reform and opening-up policy. "The company's success is not possible without the sound business environment in Guangdong. Home to the largest number of overseas Chinese, Guangdong is a pioneer of reform and opening-up, which is exactly the reason behind the investments made by the majority of overseas Chinese," he said.

During the 14th Five-year Plan period (2021-2025), China is actively promoting the "dual circulation" development pattern.

"As investors, we are not only benefiting from it but also jointly building this era. For us, we must seize this great opportunity and bring our strengths into full play so as to contribute to China's modernization path and high-quality development," he added.

When talking about the Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Investment (Guangdong) Conference, he said that he will continue playing the role of a "bridge' to help more countrymen know their own nation and culture and to seek the opportunities of achieving common prosperity in their motherland.

The statistics show that Guangdong has more than 30 million overseas Chinese, accounting for more than half of the country's total. They are living in over 160 countries and regions around the world. In the province, there are about 88,000 returned overseas Chinese and more than 30 million relatives of overseas Chinese.

According to Koo, he is ready to make contributions to Guangdong's high-quality development together with overseas Chinese around the world. The majority of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs and enterprises should support the development of major industries, platforms, projects and businesses in the province.
