In the first ten months of 2022, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 861.85 billion RMB, up 3.2 percent year on year, 0.1 percentage points faster than that in the first three quarters, according to the latest statistics released by Guangzhou Statistics Bureau on November 26.

The consumption for basic living saw good growth, with retail sales of beverage and that of grain, oil and food by enterprises above the designated size up by 10.1 percent and 6.2 percent respectively.

From January to October this year, the consumer market was generally stable, with online consumption keeping double-digit growth. The online retail sales of physical goods by enterprises above the designated size grew 13.8 percent year on year and the online income of catering by lodging and catering enterprises above the designated size went up by 26.4 percent.
In addition, the city’s added value of industries above the designated size increased by 4.2 percent year on year in the first ten months. The value added of auto manufacturing increased by 13.6 percent year on year and that of high-tech manufacturing by 11.8 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, the total import and export volume reached 872.03 billion RMB and the city’s actual foreign investment was 48.787 billion RMB, up by 11.7 percent year on year, 3.2 percentage points higher than the first three quarters.
Specifically, the import and export of general trade grew by 12.9 percent year on year, accounting for 62.6 percent of the total value of the imports and exports, 8.9 percentage points higher than that of the same period last year. And import and export of bonded logistics was up by 21.4 percent year on year, 2.4 percentage points faster than that in the first three quarters.
