Guangdong's pre-made food exploits niche market in Singapore

On April 28, a Guangdong pre-made cuisine tasting event was held in Singapore. Foodies from both China and Singapore, industry bodies and chambers of commerce, as well as food companies gathered to share Guangdong's pre-made delicacies and explore business opportunities.

Various representatives of pre-made Guangdong cuisine were served to the guests at the event, including salt-baked chicken, marinated duck, Zhanjiang's butterfish, as well as sweet and sour pork accompanied by pineapples from Zhanjiang's Xuwen County.

"Today we are pleased to have Guangdong pre-made or pre-prepared dishes in Singapore as the first talk to open to RCEP and ASEAN countries," said Dorothy Seet, the immediate past chairperson of Singcham China and the chairperson of SingCham Alumni, at the tasting event. "We hope that Singapore, as a springboard, will enable Guangdong pre-prepared dishes to penetrate ASEAN and other RCEP countries," she said.

Steven Ng, the life honorary president of the Singapore Food Manufacturers' Association, also gave a speech at the event. "I hope that our friends from China can introduce pre-made Guangdong dishes to Singapore, so that the cuisine can be accessible to Singaporean customers, allowing locals to have the opportunity to enjoy authentic, high-quality Guangdong cuisine," he noted.

At the event, the guests gave positive feedback and thought highly of the pre-prepared Guangdong food. They believed that Guangdong's pre-made food has strong market potential and would enhance the agricultural trade cooperation between China and Singapore and promote the mutual prosperity of the two economies.

Moreover, brochures featuring the specifics of the pre-made food companies from Guangdong were also provided at the tasting event, allowing guests to contact the companies for further cooperation.
