Recently, digital RMB has been officially put into use in Guangzhou's Haizhu Island Circular New Tram, Line THZ1. Passengers now can use the QR code of the e-CNY app to purchase tickets at the automatic ticket machines.

A number of pilot bank wallets now have incorporated the e-CNY app, and THZ1 is on the list of Guangzhou's experimental zones for digital yuan.
On March 31, Guangzhou Tram Co., Ltd. finished installing and adjusting car-borne ticket machines, as well as software and hardware of servers needed in the existing trams. Moreover, preliminary tests had been carried out, and functions have been optimized.
Starting from April 29, the QR code of the e-CNY app can be used in the tram. Passengers should first create an account in the e-CNY app and then use its QR code to buy tickets.
Since its opening, Guangzhou Tram has kept updating its payment system, which allows more payment methods and better guides residents in the green and low-carbon travel.
How to use digital Chinese yuan in the tram (for passengers who have already registered)?
1. Open the e-CNY app.
2. Swipe up or tap "Pay and Receive" (收付) to access the QR code.
3. Hold the code in front of the TTM camera.
4. Done.
