Team China's Fan Suyuan and Ling Zhi claimed the first victory at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games by defeating Swiss pair Martin Rios and Jenny Perret 7-6 in the opening round robin session of mixed doubles curling on Wednesday.

Fan was a speed skater before joining the curling team. She and her partner Ling, who are both first-time Olympians, started pairing during the Olympic Trials of Team China.
The Swiss duo won the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in 2017 and took a silver medal in their debut at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.
