GBA’s first China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbek train departs from Guangzhou

On July 4, the first China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan freight train carrying signature products of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) set off from the International Port of Guangzhou.

After arriving in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region by rail, it will leave the country at Erkeshtam port. Finally, it will reach its destination Tashkent city, Uzbekistan, 5 days earlier than the traditional route.

This train takes a multi-modal transportation route, including both the railway and the highway. It provides a more convenient channel for commercial and trade exchanges between the GBA and Central Asia.

Besides that, it also marks the fourth strategic transportation route for China-Europe freight trains, helping GBA and Xinjiang further participate in the building of an international economic corridor under the Belt and Road Initiative.

According to the authorities of China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. (CR Guangzhou), the number of international freight train routes in the GBA has reached 18 so far.

Going forward, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan freight train will be operated regularly, with an aim of further boosting the high-quality development of Guangdong and Xinjiang.
