Hong Kong West Kowloon Station offers 144-hour visa-free transit

Recently, the Port at the West Kowloon Station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link has been included as an exit port under the 144-hour visa-free transit policy in Guangdong Province. This move aims to fully utilize the visa-free transit policy and enhance services to facilitate personnel exchanges and cooperation in the Greater Bay Area.

Currently, the West Kowloon Station operates 188 cross-boundary trains every day, which reach 74 destinations nationwide. The "14-minute journey to Shenzhen-Hong Kong, 1-hour living circle in the Greater Bay Area" travel model has matured. With its inclusion as an exit port under the 144-hour visa-free transit policy in Guangdong, the West Kowloon Station has become a new choice for transit passengers.

Statistics show that since the implementation of China's latest visa-free policy, the Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection Station at West Kowloon Station handled 206,000 inbound and outbound foreign passengers in the first quarter of 2024, with nearly 2,300 foreign passengers checked daily, marking a 266% year-on-year increase.

Since the opening of the 135th Canton Fair, the number of foreign passengers entering and exiting West Kowloon Station Port has exceeded 59,000, with over 6,300 foreign passengers recorded on April 14 alone, setting a new daily record since the port's opening.

The Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection Station at West Kowloon Station reminds inbound and outbound travelers: Under the 144-hour visa-free transit policy in Guangdong, foreigners from 54 countries holding valid international travel documents (valid for at least three months) as well as connecting tickets with confirmed dates and seats for the third countries (regions) within 144 hours (including airline tickets, ship tickets, train tickets, and bus tickets to Hong Kong and Macao) can choose to enter through any of the following three ports (Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, and Jieyang Chaoshan Airport), and exit through any of the Guangdong ports approved by the State Council.
