The target is announced in a meeting held by the Department of Transport of Guangdong Province.

The meeting is held after the provincial high-quality development conference, which was held on January 28 and stressed that the province should build world-class highways, ports and airports.

Next, Guangdong will continue to support the construction of cross-river and cross-sea channels, such as the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, Shiziyang Tunnel and Huangmao Sea Bridge, and promote the capacity expansion and upgrade of high-grade inland waterways, such as the northward extension projects of the Dongjiang River and Beijiang River.

In 2023, Guangdong Provincial Communications Group Ltd. will undertake 24 major expressway projects with an investment of 43 billion RMB.

"During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), we plan to launch 38 major expressway projects, with a total mileage of about 1,700 kilometres. The investment is expected to exceed 230 billion RMB," said Liu Xiaohua, general manager of Guangdong Provincial Communications Group Ltd.
