Lingdingyang Bridge to complete deck construction by the end of April

On January 29, the first steel box girder on the west main span of Lingdingyang Bridge was successfully installed.

With a main span of 1,688 meters, Lingdingyang Bridge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is the world's largest-span steel box girder suspension bridge. Its two main towers are 270 meters high, which is equivalent to the height of a 90-story building.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link will open to traffic in 2024. By then, the driving time from Shenzhen to Zhongshan will be reduced from 2 hours to 20 minutes, which will strongly promote the integration, transformation and upgrading of the economy and traffic in the Pearl River Delta.

The Lingdingyang Bridge has a total of 213 steel box girders and the first one on the west side is 12.8 meters long, 49.7 meters wide, and weighed about 284 tons, with a lifting height (from the bridge deck to the sea) of 90 meters.

The installation of the first steel box girder on the east side was completed on January 12. The whole bridge deck construction is expected to finish by the end of April.
